Novels and Narratives

Novels and narratives are vital for cognitive and emotional development. They enhance empathy, critical thinking, and metacognition by encouraging readers to engage with diverse perspectives and reflect on their own thinking. In education, quality literature fosters intellectual and emotional growth, while diverse texts ensure students encounter a wide range of voices and experiences—broadening their understanding of the world.

Book Bentos

Book bento boxes (BBB) are a multimodal and interactive reader response strategy that promotes visual literacy, critical thinking and multiliteracies.

Book Trailers

Book trailers are often referred to as audiovisual representations of texts, Reader’s book trailers work in a similar manner to literature circles, as they provide a space for students to engage with the text and to form connections between the text, the world and themselves.

Literary Circles

Literacy circles seek to challenge the reader to interpret the text through their own lens, such as their perspectives, knowledge and viewpoints, to make meaning from what they are reading.  As a response strategy to literature, literature circles require the reader to critically analyse the text and justify their reasoning.
